7 days in Armenia – from the ancient Garni Temple to the wine magic of Areni. Every day is a new discovery.
After breakfast, we head to the impressive pagan temple of Garni, erected in the 1st century - the only one of its kind in the region, dedicated to the sun god Mihr. Then we descend to the spectacular natural phenomenon Symphony of Stones, where basalt columns form an incredible geometry. We continue to Gekhard - a 4th century monastery, partially carved into the rocks and included in the UNESCO list. End of the day - master class on making Armenian lavash. Overnight in Yerevan.
After breakfast - a full-day excursion to the second largest city in Armenia - Gyumri. We will visit the Museum of Urban Life and National Architecture, we will explore the Black Fortress, and we will walk along the ancient streets with unique houses in a rustic style. We will also visit Harichavank - a monastery complex, perched on a cliff. Return and overnight in Yerevan.
Breakfast and departure to Echmiadzin, the spiritual heart of Armenian Christianity. We will visit Mother Echmiadzin Cathedral – one of the oldest in the world, as well as the churches St. Hripsime and St. Gayane, each with its own unique history and architecture. We end with a visit to Zvartnots – an ancient cathedral complex in ruins. Return and overnight in Yerevan.
After breakfast, we head to the mountain resort Tsaghkadzor. We will visit Kecharis Monastery, then take a cable car to a high panoramic point with a picturesque view of the mountains. We will spend the afternoon by the majestic Lake Sevan, climb to Sevanavank Monastery, located on the peninsula. We will also enjoy a local specialty – trout barbecue. Return to Yerevan.
After breakfast, a spiritual and wine experience awaits us. The first stop is the Khor Virap Monastery, which offers an exceptional view of Mount Ararat. We continue to the Bird Cave – an archaeological treasure, where the oldest Armenian leather sandal was discovered. This is followed by a wine tasting at the Hin Areni Winery, where we will taste authentic local wines. The finale is a visit to the majestic Noravank Monastery, nestled among red rocks. Return to Yerevan.
